The industry Codes of Conduct sets out the standards, ethics, values, and conduct that underpin the obligation of each Coach, Mentor, and organisation within the coaching and mentoring industry.

Minimum requirements for coaching and mentoring competencies are also set out for the coaching and mentoring industry.

To assist consumers (also known as buyers, end-users, clients, customers, students, and members) in buying the services provided by each Coach, or Mentor; or the services and products provided by each organisation within the coaching and mentoring industry, the IRCM has released a number of industry-specific codes which includes a consumers’ guideline.
