Next steps!

"The only goals that are worth pursuing
are the ones that seize hold of your passion."
The Peak Performance Center
Goal setting is only one of the steps that you will take on your journey to actually achieving the changes you want to make.

“Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.”

- Evaluate your dreams, aspirations, and goals for 2021.
“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” Anthony Robbins
Be clear about what you want to achieve in 2021. Now is the time to decide. Once you have made your decision, the important thing is to write it down.
. - Strategise and Brainstorm
“If you want to reach a goal, you must see the reaching in your mind before you actually arrive at your goals.” Zig Ziglar
What do you need to do to achieve your dreams, aspirations, and goals?
Now is the time to identify what steps you need to take, and tasks you need to complete.
. - Help
“Obstacles are frightful things when you take your eye off your goal.” Henry Ford
A competent coach or mentor is someone you can talk to about your own dreams, aspirations, and goals.
There are many reasons that you should work with someone who is non-judgemental, will keep your confidences, makes you accountable for your own achievements and successes, may or may not share their own experiences (one of the differences between a coach and a mentor), and be with you every step of the way.
Before you start on your journey, find your coach or mentor.
. - Create your action plan!
“A goal without a plan is a daydream.” Rick Conlow
Your action plan is personal to you and your dreams, aspirations, and goals. Therefore, it is important that you create your action plan as a step-by-step process that will take you from where you are today, to achieving your goal(s) successfully.
Each step is a mini-goal that will allow you to recognise your progress, and to celebrate each step.
Set your deadlines for each step and allocate the time in your diary.
. - Take action!
“A year from now you may wish you had started today.” Karen Lamb
If you don't take action, no-one will take action for you.
If you find yourself not taking action, explore your reasons with your coach or mentor.
. - Evaluate
“There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits.” —Michael Phelps
It is important as you move through your plan that you evaluate your progress. Is your plan working? How motivated are you? How much time are you allocating to your goal? Are you actively working towards your dreams, aspirations, goals? How are you accountable to yourself?
Life sometimes gets in the way, and every coach or mentor understands and recognises this. Therefore, it is not a failure but a point in which you can evaluate your progress and make the relevant changes. Sometimes your evaluation may identify that the steps, tasks, or even goal you have set should be changed. This is something you can work with your coach or mentor to understand and make the relevant changes.
. - Reward yourself
“Success is the progressive realisation of a worthwhile goal.” Earl Nightingale
One of the challenges everyone has is that of recognition of their own successes. It is very easy to move from one step or task to another, gradually step-by-step achieving your dream, aspiration, goal; but without the recognition of each step, your journey may become more challenging and less motivating.
As part of step 6, recognise your achievements and your successes.
Now celebrate each achievement and each success!
