There are three different types of education bodies/training organisations in the coaching and mentoring industry:
- Formal Education Body
These are government-approved education bodies i.e. Universities, Colleges, and Schools, who provide government-approved training courses in coaching and/or mentoring.

The IRCM encourages all Formal Education Body to REGISTER with the IRCM to confirm that they include the international industry Unified Codes of Conduct and details of the Ombudsman Service in each of their courses/workshops.

This ensures that the Coach and/or Mentor who works with the Consumer has the right level of training and is working within the international industry Unified Codes of Conduct and recognises the Ombudsman Service.
. - Private Commercial Training Organisations/Companies
These are generally commercial training companies that do not come under the countries Government Education Department/System, but who provide coaching and/or mentoring training to future coaches and/or mentors.

The IRCM encourages all Private Commercial Training Organisations to REGISTER with the IRCM to confirm that they include the international industry Unified Codes of Conduct and details of the Ombudsman Service in each of their courses/workshops. This ensures that the Coach and/or Mentor who works with the Consumer has the right level of training and is working within the international industry Unified Codes of Conduct and recognises the Ombudsman Service.

The IRCM encourages all Private Commercial Training Organisations to gain independent verification of the quality of each course and/or workshop through accreditation/credentialing by one or more Professional Body. It is important to note: Some Professional Bodies provide accreditation/credentialing for the organisation only; while others provide accreditation/credentialing for the organisations' courses and/or workshops. It is important for the consumer to identify this validation through accreditation/credentialing at the time of their due-diligence.
. - Coaches and/or Mentors (who provide training to their clients)
These are generally Coaches and/or Mentors that do not come under the countries Government Education Department/System, but who provide training, using their coaching and/or mentoring competence, to their clients. They may be:- training them to use coaching and/or mentoring skills and award a qualification; or
- using their skills to work with a number of clients simultaneously using a standard process to help each client progress in their own aspirations.
These Coaches and/or Mentors will be found on the Directory as ‘Private Commercial Training Organisations’.
The IRCM encourages all Coaches and/or Mentors who provide training to their clients to REGISTER with the IRCM to confirm that they include and/or utilise the international industry Unified Codes of Conduct and details of the Ombudsman Service in each of their courses/workshops. This ensures that the Coach and/or Mentor who trains the Consumer has the right level of training and is working within the international industry Unified Codes of Conduct and recognises the Ombudsman Service.
