What is the difference between
Formal Education Bodies and Commercial Training Organisations?

Formal Education

There are three different types of education bodies/training organisations in the coaching and mentoring industry:

  • Formal Education Body
These are government-approved education bodies that provide government-approved training/education courses in coaching and/or mentoring.
    i.e. Universities, Colleges, and Schools
    .
  • Commercial Training Organisations/Companies
There are commercial training companies that do not come under the country's Government Education Department/System, but provide coaching and/or mentoring training to future coaches and/or mentors.
It is recommended that Commercial Training Organisations gain external validation of their courses, the course author(s), and the faculty who train the students.

    .
  • Coaches and/or Mentors (who provide training to their clients)
These are generally Coaches and/or Mentors that do not come under the country's Government Education Department/System, but who provide training to their clients.  This training is usually based on their own coaching and/or mentoring competence.
Coaches and/or Mentors who provide training are recognised in the Education and Training Directory as ‘Commercial Training Organisations’.
