Coaches and/or Mentors

Register with the IRCM:

A Coach and/or Mentor demonstrates their credibility through their REGISTRATION on the IRCM’s Coaches and/or Mentors Directory.

It is important that the REGISTRATION is current and that the Coach and/or Mentor is open to any questions that a prospective or current client/customer may have about the details they have published on the IRCM's Coaches and/or Mentors Directory.

As a Coach and/or Mentor that is REGISTERED on the IRCM's Coaches and/or Mentors Directory, they have committed to:

  • agreeing to work within a single Code of Conduct (standards, ethics, and competencies) in the industry.
  • recognising the Coaching and/or Mentoring Ombudsman Service.
  • maintaining the industry's reputation and integrity.
  • participating in the discussions relating to the industry and the ongoing discussions about its future.

While a Coach and/or Mentor demonstrates their credibility through their REGISTRATION on the IRCM’s Coaches and/or Mentors Directory., they demonstrate their competence:

  1. being REGISTERED on the IRCM Coaches and/or Mentors directory
  2. through their independent verification (accreditation/credential) by one or more Professional Bodies that are REGISTERED with or ACCREDITED by the IRCM.

It is important that the ACCREDITATION/CREDENTIAL with the Professional Body and the REGISTRATION with the IRCM is current, and that the Coach or Mentor is open to any questions the Customer or Client may have about the details they have published on the IRCM's Coaches and/or Mentors Directory or the Professional Bodies Directory.

.

Registration with the IRCM demonstrates the Coach's and/or Mentor's credibility.

Registration with the IRCM and an independent verification through a Professional Body that is REGISTERED with or ACCREDITED by the IRCM provides a more detailed awareness of a Coach's or Mentor's qualifications and experience; and demonstrates the Coach's and/or Mentor's competence.

A Professional Body that is REGISTERED with the IRCM demonstrates that the Professional Body has agreed to demonstrate its credibility by meeting industry standards of professionalism and expertise in the Coaching and Mentoring industry.

A Professional Body that is ACCREDITED by the IRCM has demonstrated transparency through an independent verification and validation of its accreditation/credential policies and processes providing a much more detailed awareness of the Professional Bodies ability to accredit/credential its members (Coaches, Mentors, Commercial Training Organisations).

When a Coach's or Mentor's qualification is validated by a REGISTERED or ACCREDITED Professional Body, it ensures that the individual has met the required educational standards and has obtained the necessary knowledge and skills in their field of practice. This validation process typically involves a thorough review of the individual's educational background, training, and professional experience.

While the IRCM recognises a number of Professional Bodies, these are Professional Bodies that have not agreed to adhere to the industry Codes of Conduct or recognise the Ombudsman Service; therefore the IRCM cannot validate the quality of accreditation/credential.   The IRCM's recommendation is that the Professional Body is REGISTERED with or ACCREDITED by the IRCM.

Recognition of professionalism refers to the acknowledgement and appreciation of a Coach and/or Mentor who exhibits high levels of credibility, competence, expertise, ethics, and dedication in the Coaching and Mentoring industry.

Recognition of professionalism not only affirms the Coach's and/or Mentor's achievements but also promotes the overall standard of excellence within the Coaching and Mentoring industry.  It encourages continuous learning, ethical behaviour, and the pursuit of professional development.

Coaches-Mentors

.

IRCM Registered Coaches and/or Mentors demonstrate their competence in the industry by gaining their accreditation/credential with a Professional Body that is Registered with or Accredited by the IRCM.

While the IRCM recognises that there are a number of good quality Coaches or Mentors that have not been formally trained, it is preferable that the Coach or Mentor is qualified.

As defined in the industry Terminology and Definitions, a qualification is awarded to each student (Coach and/or Mentor) through the successful achievement of their training on a course from a Formal Education Body, or Commercial Training Organisation.

Understanding the qualification of the Coach or Mentor is not always simple.  The reason is that the courses and/or workshops internationally meet different education standards.  For this reason, the IRCM recommends that the Coach and/or Mentor is accredited/credentialed by one or more Professional Bodies that are REGISTERED with or ACCREDITED by the IRCM, as the Professional Body will determine the level of qualification that each Coach and/or Mentor has achieved.  click here for more information

.

For credibility, the IRCM recommends that the training that has been delivered by an:

  • IRCM REGISTERED Formal Education Body or
  • IRCM REGISTERED Commercial Training Organisation

For competence, the IRCM:

  • recognises that Formal Education Bodies are verified by their own country's Department of Education.
  • recommends that each Commercial Training Organisation is Registered with the IRCM and accredited/credentialed by a Professional Body that is REGISTERED with or ACCREDITED by the IRCM.

Each Professional Body Recognised by or Registered with the IRCM verifies the Coaches' or Mentors' experience.

Each Professional Body has its own policies, procedures, and processes.  The IRCM can only determine the quality of the accreditation policies, procedures, and processes for those Professional Bodies that gain Accreditation with the IRCM.

As defined in the industry Terminology and Definitions, experience is simply professional knowledge and skill, acquired by professional practice.
